What is the minimum wage for young workers?

There are two lower hourly national minimum wage rates for younger workers.

The first applies to workers at the age of 18, until they reach the age of 22. As of 1 October 2008, it is £4.77 per hour.

A new rate for 16-17 year olds was introduced in October 2004, and starts lower at £3.53.
